ONE of the world’s most authentic, multi-platinum-selling, Grammy Award-winning Christian artists, Michael W. Smith, will be on tour in South Africa this May.

According to a press release, this will be the first time that Smith will be on tour in South Africa with only one promoter.

The Tennessee-based worship leader will perform at the following venues:

) 25 May: CRC, Bloemfontein;

) 26 May: ICC, Durban;

) 28 May: Grand Arena, Grand West, Cape Town;

) 29 May: Rhema Church, Johannesburg; and

) 30 May: Moreleta Park Church, Pretoria.

Smith has released 29 albums, which produced 31 number-one hit singles and sold more than 18 million copies.

Besides the three Grammy Awards, he also won 40 Dove Awards.

This artist is described as one of the most authentic worship ­leaders of our generation and he is well known for songs like Above All, Here I Am to Worship and Agnus Dei. As a respected artist, he has great in­fluence across continents and cultures.

In his career of 30 years, he performed for presidents and national leaders, at community gatherings and Billy Graham Crusades and on international television.

However, this grandfather of six says his work is not done yet.

The concerts promise to be inspired, anointed and exceeding the crowd’s expectations. Audiences can look forward to some of their favourite Smith songs, as well as some hits from his latest album, Sovereign.
