Sundowns too strong for FS Stars

2015-10-29 06:00

BETHLEHEM. – Ernst Middendorp, coach of Free State Stars, said Mamelodi Sundowns were simply too strong for his charges in their Telkom Knockout quarter-final at Goble Park.

Sundowns started the game like a house on fire. They left the Stars players chasing their shadows until the score was 3-0. With less than five minutes before the half-time whistle, Stars reduced the deficit to two and were denied a second goal by a cross bar.

The second half was also a nightmare.

“The weather conditions and having to run after the game, made it very difficult. But it is not an excuse, they were just too strong for us and that’s fine.”
