TKO final on 16 December

2015-10-07 06:00

THE Premier Soccer League (PSL) has announced that this year’s Telkom Knockout (TKO) final will be played on Reconciliation Day – Wednesday, 16 December.

Brand de Villiers, the PSL chief executive, said they had to move the TKO final to mid-December to accommodate the South African u.23 side that will be participating in the CAF (the governing body of African Football) mini-tournament as part of the Rio 2016 Olympics qualification.

“The PSL took a decision to rally behind the u.23’s in their bid to qualify for the Rio Olympics and, as part of our agreement with the South African Football Association (Safa), we suspended both league and cup competition fixtures during this period,” De Villiers said.

“This also necessitated a decision on our side to move the TKO final to 16 December.

“We thank our sponsors and broadcast partners for their understanding as we get behind our u.23 boys.”

The venue and kick-off time of the TKO 2015 will be announced in due course
