The spirit of Herod a great threat

2015-10-07 06:00

NOW about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church. And he killed James the brother of John with the sword. – Acts 12:1-2

There are about four Herods in the Bible and they are all dangerous.

One Herod beheaded John the Baptist; he killed the vision of John the Baptist. Another one destroyed infants of the age of two years and younger because he wanted to destroy Jesus. The other Herod killed James the brother of John and he was to kill Peter also.

The spirit of Herod is a killer of visionaries and missionaries.

However, God allowed him to do that. God set Peter free from his hand overnight.

Anytime we see members of the church or assembly meetings, there is always a Herod. Herod is there; he will vex. When that spirit enters, it is like the spirit of Jezebel. It fights against the church and it fights against prophets.

We do not have any enemies other than those of our own household. The Jews were supposed to war against their brothers’ killers, but the Bible says it pleased them that James had been killed by Herod. That is the battle of the saints. The people we pray with sometimes hold meetings at night and plot against us.

Herod planned to kill Peter. Fortunately Peter had trained people and the church members he had trained were praying on his behalf. Acts 12:5 says: Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.
