Workshop nurtures creativity

2015-10-21 06:00

SOPHIA JOUBERT, who had retired as a teacher in 2012, was one of the attendees of the three-day crafts workshop hosted in Richie recently. She has now discovered decoupage as a way of combatting the poverty in her community. “This was an interesting workshop and it will come in handy for many families in Richie. I am a person who has always been putting things aside, never quite being sure what I would do with them one day,” Joubert said.

“I also used to do needlework at college and I love handwork.”

According to Joubert, decoupage came in handy to them as they learned a variety of things. The most important thing that Naola (de Ruiters) taught us, is how broad the spectrum of crafts is. I now know how to use many of those recyclable items I have always been keeping.”
