Plooysburg police are investigating a case of culpable homicide following a head-on collision between a truck and a sedan that killed two men and two women on Thursday (27/09).

The accident happened 40 km outside Kimberley between Plooysburg and Douglas. All four occupants of the sedan were certified dead on the scene in which Emergency services had to use the jaws of life to free the bodies in the wreckage of Audi Sedan.

According to Capt. Olebogeng Tawana, police spokesperson, preliminary investigation indicates that the truck could have had a burst tyre, causing the driver to lose control and drive into the on-coming Audi Sedan.

“The truck was travelling towards Douglas while the Audi was travelling in the direction of Kimberley,” revealed Tawana in a statement.

The driver of the truck was transported to a hospital in Kimberley.

  • In another incident on the same day, police confirmed that three people died in an accident on the Barkly West road near the Platfontein turnoff after their vehicle lost control.

Two children and their father died on the scene.
