Acclaimed violinist offers exciting performance

THE Odeion School for Music and the Free State Symphony Orchestra (FSSO) are presenting an exciting Violin Concerto No. 1 in D major (Paganini) on 25 June, featuring the internationally-acclaimed violinist Rachel Lee Priday.

The FSSO will be led by conductor Bernhard Gueller. Sponsored by the International Arts Trust, Violin Concerto No. 1 is a virtuoso showpiece which is extremely challenging for the soloist, but at the same time one of his most beautiful pieces ever written.

The rest of the programme will consist of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 2 in D major and Mozart’s Magic Flute overture.

Priday, acclaimed for her beauty of tone, riveting stage presence and “irresistible panache” (Chicago Tribune), has featured as soloist with major international orchestras.

She has been profiled in The New Yorker, The Los Angeles Times, Family Circle Magazine and The Strad Magazine. Her television credits include appearances on the Disney Channel, Fiddling for the Future and American Masters on PBS and the 2000 Grammy Awards ceremony (Los Angeles).

Tickets for the show are available for R130 (adults), R100 (pensioners) and R50 (students/learners/group bookings of 10+).
