PRESIDENT JACOB ZUMA, has expressed his condolences to the family of the veteran actor Shadrack Ngema (65), who died after a short illness in hospital on Saturday (05/12), the presidency said.

In a statement issued late on Sunday (06/12), Zuma said: “South Africa has lost a familiar voice and face in the arts industry. He was a very talented and popular actor and comedian who brought laughter and joy to our people. He will be sorely missed.

“We wish to convey our deepest condolences to his family. May his soul rest in peace.”

The South African Department of Arts and Culture on Monday (07/12) said Ngema had left a void in the acting industry with his sudden passing on. Nathi Mthethwa, Arts and Culture minister, said he was saddened by Ngema’s death, which had come as a shock. XeNCA
