Pacofs presents a thought-provoking play titled My Fellow Countryman from 26 to 28 July in the André Huguenet theatre. It is written and directed by Pesa Pheko.

Casts featured in the dramatic playwright are Moses Lecuti and Mlungisi Tshobeka. In this enthralling drama, the author delves into the results of dilemma the two characters are facing in their desperation to seize an opportunity for survival.

Set in Nigeria, the play zooms into the conduct of the two fellow countrymen how they go about finding their way back home to South Africa.

Their story begins in Nigeria at a taxi rank where both commander Spec (Lecuti) and comrade Sebaka (Tshobeka) are impatiently waiting for a taxi to take them to the embassy to get the only one remaining ticket. Both heard over the radio that there was a single flight ticket.

Their tension starts when a taxi arrived at a rank with space available for one passenger.

  • Their argument let to the taxi leaving both. In the event they are left stranded, they opened their hearts, reminisce about their lives and loneliness they found themselves in exile. Common factors about their stories and suffering let to both recognizing each other, and coming up with an agreement of who should go and get the one ticket to go back home. Tickets are at Pacofs or Computicket and cost R60 per show and R100 combo for two shows, scholars R40 per production and R60 combo for two shows.
