The Thaba Nchu police have arrested a Lesotho national in the murder case of Dan Koloane (52), an entrepreneur from Thaba Nchu who manufactured and sold bricks.

Rethabile Stephen Ranthimo (37) was arrested by investigating officer, Sgt. Kabelo Molebatsi and first appeared in court on 5 December.

He was expected to reappear in the Thaba Nchu Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday (13/12) facing a charge of murder.

Sgt. Martin Xuma, police spokesperson, said Ranthimo’s arrest had followed a tip-off about his whereabouts. He said the suspect allegedly was one of the three suspects involved in the cold-blooded murder of Koloane.

Xuma said they were still searching for two suspects on the run and the firearm used to commit the murder. He said the deceased had been shot six times in his upper body.

The incident took place on 25 July outside Koloane’s house in Zone 3, Selosesha, Thaba Nchu.

Xuma said Koloane had reportedly been awakened by the sound of a breaking window, followed by a banging noise against on the door.

Koloane had gone outside to inspect what was happening and the killers shot him six times, after which they fled.

According to Xuma, Ranthimo had reportedly been employed by the victim.
