Four alleged killers of a Boshof farmer and his wife are expected to reappear in the Boshof District Court from Thursday (25/07) to Monday (29/07).

Daniel Tsekiso Selwane (28), Johannes Sekgoro (41), Kat Terrance Thami (34) and Sidasie Daniel Lephele (44) first appeared in court on Thursday (18/07) in connection with the brutal killing of the farmer. They face charges of murder, the possession of unlicensed firearms, aggravated robbery, theft of a motor vehicle and theft.

This follows the murder of Isak van den Berg (67) and his wife, Ockelina (61), at the Bloubos farm on 12 July.

Col. Thandi Mbambo, provincial police spokesperson, said the fifth suspect, whose name was not revealed, was released because he could not be positively linked to the crime.

According to Mbambo, the farmer was overpowered by six suspects on his return to the farm from town. She said the farmer had gone to town to drop off his worker.

“They took him to the house, after which they brutally assaulted and shot both him and his wife. The suspects ransacked the house and stole four firearms and the deceased’s vehicle, which was later recovered in the Caledon River bed en route to Lesotho.”

Mbambo said two firearms were found during the arrest.
