DANISH NATIONAL PETER FREDERIKSEN sat with his back to a packed public gallery in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday (04/11), where he was expected to apply for bail.

Frederiksen often referred to his notes while dozens of ANC Women’s League (ANCWL)members lined the benches behind him.

“The reason we are here is to make sure he isn’t granted bail; we are here to make sure that justice is served. We are hurt, we are sad, we are embarrassed and humiliated as women,” said ANCWL member Joyce Davids.

“We are not xenophobic, but we fail to understand why someone would come from Denmark to do this nonsense in our country?”

Frederiksen, whose case has made international headlines, was arrested after 21 clitorises had been found in his freezer. He allegedly sliced off the sexual organs and kept them in the freezer as trophies.

His wife, Anna Matseliso Molise (28), who assisted the police with information about him, was shot dead last month in her home country of Lesotho in what the Hawks described as a suspected hit.

She reportedly refused to be placed in a witness protection programme.

The couple has two children.

Frederiksen faces charges of sexual assault as well as charges related to crimes committed under sections of the Medicines Act.

Frederiksen, who has yet to enter a plea, appeared at the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court last week for a bail hearing that was adjourned until Thursday (12/11).
