Artists can enter songs

2019-02-06 06:01

Aspiring artists have a chance to realise the dream to getting their music into the charts by entering original composed songs in the All the way from Bloem initiative.

This is the second year of the talent search for best unique songs.

Entries close on Friday, 15 February.

Prizes up for grabs include a music video shoot, vocal training sessions and hampers from Toms Music Store Bloemfontein.

A CD will be compiled with the 15 best chosen songs. A concert featuring these songs, at the 2019 Vrystaat Arts Festival, will be the highlight of the project.

Singer-songwriter Jacobus Silwer, initiator of the project, said after a huge success in 2018, they are excited to hear new songs.

“Entries should be of original songs that have not been distributed previously, whether on CD or digital platforms like iTunes, SoundCloud or Google Play.

“What we are looking for is a unique song with good, solid lyrics in any of the South African languages, in any genre.”

Silwer said if you are keen on writing lyrics and music, but cannot hold a tune, you can get someone to perform the song.

“Our aim is to get different individuals working together to better the local music industry as a whole.”

Entry forms and payment details are on the Facebook page, All the way from Bloem.

A panel of judges will decide which entries will form part of the project.

  • Entrants whose songs are chosen, will be able to attend workshops on themes such as body image, digital marketing and public speaking. During a professional photo shoot, images of all the finalists will be captured. Entries must be sent in MP3-format and entrants must cover the cost of the recording. Entry is R50. Send proof of payment with the entry form to allthewayfrombloem@gmail.com.
