Artists must enter now

Entries are open for the 2018 Phatshoane Henney New Breed Art competition, catering for visual artists in the Free State.

The theme is “Be brave, be bold”.

Entries must be submitted at the Oliewenhuis Art Museum, 16 Harry Smith Street, Dan Pienaar, Bloemfontein.

Entries officially opened on Monday, 10 September. The closing date is on 16 September.

Artists must ensure they submit a complete entry (a work, a completed and signed entry form and supporting information) at the Oliewenhuis Art Mu­seum’s reception.

No entries will be received after these dates, or outside the hours of 10:00 to 16:00.

The first prize is R50 000, and the runner-up receives R20 000.

A merit award and public choice award winner will each get R10 000.

The public choice award allows the public to vote for their favourite artist on the official competition website ( and thereby determine the winner thereof.
