THE Safa-ABC Motsepe League play-offs to determine the two clubs to be promoted to the National First Division (NFD) are in full swing.

The weeklong football event commenced on Monday (13/06), with Group A fixtures at the Dr R.T. Molemela Stadium (formerly Seisa Ramabodu).

The promotion play-offs take place at the Kaizer Sebothelo Stadium in Botshabelo, starting on Wednesday (15/06).

In the two opening encounters on Monday, Group A, Apollo X1 and Steenberg commenced their quest positively, recording hard-fought wins.

Apollo from Mpumalanga narrowly beat Orbit College from the North-West by 1-0 in the first game and Steenberg from the Western Cape followed suit when they beat Tornado with the same scoreline.

The wins boosted the morale of the two sides, Apollo and Steenberg, presenting Orbit and Tornado with a huge task to recover and fight back to keep their dream of the NFD.

Tuesday’s (14/06) fixtures saw Apollo tackling Tornado and Steenberg clashing with Kings United from KwaZulu-Natal. (Results are not included, as the games were still on at the time of going to print).

Group A has five clubs, with the team finishing on top of the group being promoted to the NFD.

Wednesday’s encounters feature Group B, which has just four teams with the club finishing first also promoted to the NFD.

The opening fixtures see Morester Jeug of the Northern Cape clash with Magezi from Limpopo, with Manco Milan from the Free State taking on JDR Stars from Gauteng.

Group A teams are also in action, with Tornado battling Orbit College and Kings tackling Apollo.
