Two teen models from Bloemfontein are among the top 100 contestants from across South Africa who are in the semi-final of the 2018 South African Teen Ambassador pageant.

The two teenagers are Rethabile Molelle (18) and Zandile Masia (16).

The pair’s journey to the glory of the teen pageant began after being announced as part of the top 100 semi-finalists after auditions and a preparatory workshop held in Sandton. The semi-finalists were announced on 11 August.

Including Rethabile and Zandile, the Free State boasts five semi-finalists in this pageant designed for aspiring young women aged 15 to 19, of all races and body sizes.

The programme aims to celebrate teenagers who aspire to be the best version of themselves, inspire their fellow teenagers and ultimately mould the youth who are the future of South Africa.

The competition also strives to equip contestants with entrepreneurial skills and enable the girls to follow their dreams from a young age and become voices of change.

Only 25 of the top 100 semi-finalists will be selected to continue the journey as finalists who qualify to vie for the coveted South Africa Teen Ambassador pageant title. The deserving winner will have the prestigious crown bestow on her at the grand final on 12 October in Johannesburg.

Zandile is a Gr. 10 learner at the Brebner High School and Rethabile in Gr. 12 at the Bloemfontein High School.

In their modelling journey, they have taken part in various charity events and pageants, in which some they walked away with titles.

Rethabile is former Miss Teen Mangaung 2017 and boasts ten titles to her name.

Zandile has three beauty pageants to her name – Miss Brebner High 2018, Miss Teen Free State Charity 2018 and Miss Teen Bloem Show 2018.

The teenagers have their life in front of them on the journey to stardom of the 2018 Miss SA Teen Ambassador as they aspire to be building on their good reputation and to be future youth ambassadors others can look up to.

“To me this journey is not just an ordinary journey, it is more of a learning platform and I’m very excited to be part of it,” said Zandile.

“I feel excited to be amongst the top 100 fearless girls. It is overwhelming for me that I’m competing for a national pageant,” said Rethabile.
