Bodies found in mine

2017-03-01 10:19

The Welkom police are seeking the next of kin of two deceased men from Lesotho whose bodies were found underground on 27 December last year at the Bambanani West Mine in Welkom.

The men were allegedly illegal miners.

Capt. Stephen Thakeng, police spokesperson, says one of the men had a note with the name Raseapole Botere from Thaba-Tseka Lesobeng in Lesotho, while the other man remains unidentified.

He says both bodies are being kept at the government mortuary in Welkom and no one has come forward to identify and claim them.

Anyone with information must contact the investigating officer, Const. Xolile Kama in Welkom, on 057-391-6300 or 076-792-3908.
