Two boxers from Bloemfontein-based Dream Team Promotions eye big debut in their professional fights that are part of a tournament at the Turffontein Racecourse in Johannesburg on Friday (01/06).

The pair is Jackson Kaptain (24) and Vuyani Kosana (33).

Kaptain, with a fight record of six – five wins and one loss – will face opponent Lucky Lefuna.

Kosana – with just two fights in the amateur rank – will take on Sydney Ntsemi, who will also make his debut.

They will battle it out with their opponents over four rounds to decide the winners at this tournament staged by Dream Team Promotions’ manager Lebohang Mahoko.

Mahoko said the decision to recruit amateur boxers and help them turn professional was due to inactivity which has professional boxing in limbo in the province.

Other Free State boxers to be in action are Sihle Jelwana ranked top in the flyweight division and Matshidiso Mokebisi, the only woman boxer in the province. Mokebisi is rated top in Boxing South Africa’s bantamweight rank. She will clash with her opponent in a non-title female bout.

Top-seeded Mokebisi (28) is the current African Boxing Union’s South African Junior Featherweight champion.

Jelwana (24) makes his second attempt against veteran boxer Jackson van Tonder Chauke. In the previous contest Chauke knocked out the youthful boxer.
