Caring companies and individuals are invited to rally their troops and bring along some sandwich goodies and loads of good cheer for this year’s Flamingo Casino Mandela Day Sandwich Run on Wednesday (18/07).

Buoyed by the success of the project in 2016 and 2017, the Flamingo Casino will once more partner with Meals on Wheels in this campaign.

Meals on Wheels encourages people attending the event to also bring a blanket to donate to the cause.

The challenge is to make as many sandwiches as possible in 67 minutes in a fun-filled way. These sandwiches will be distributed to charity organisations around Kimberley.

According to the casino, 2016 saw 4 121 sandwiches made in 67 minutes, while 6 189 were made for distribution in 2017.

The Flamingo Casino Sandwich Run coincides with International Mandela Day and will start at 10:00.

The casino’s resident DJ, Bizzy B of The Hive Entertainment, is expected to keep the beats coming to make sure the event is fun-filled.

“We call on our community to once again come down to support our Mandela Day Sandwich Run. We would love to beat the number of sandwiches made in 2017.

“All you need to give, is bread, some spreads and your time,” said René Scholtz, public relations and promotions manager at the Flamingo Casino.

“As always, it promises to be a spirited event. We all work side by side to butter some bread and fill some sandwiches, to fill some tummies and spread some smiles.”
