BREBNER can be considered an institution where learners strive to learn, to play, to receive and to give. Learners are taught to accept authority and discipline through positive reinforcement, which leads to self-discipline, independence and a feeling of self-worth and achievement.

The Brebner Primary School is not only about acquiring knowledge, but also about the manner in which this holistic and life-long education is nurtured

The Brebner Primary School is under the leadership of the vastly-experienced Eddie Jones as principal.

He was appointed in February 2015 after serving at Brebner High School for 24 years.

He matriculated at Brebner and sees his appointment as an opportunity to serve the Brebner community in a different capacity.

“At the Brebner Primary School we believe in a holistic approach to education. We want the child to develop as a balanced human being.

“We have a very committed staff and very involved parents.

“We foster a caring family atmosphere, professional and accountable management and the opportunity for every learner to develop to their full potential.

“There is no recipe. It’s down to hard work, strategising and creating an environment that is conducive to teaching and learning.

“At Brebner Primary School, we want every learner to have the opportunity to become the best they can be, whether that be at academics, culture or sport.

“We have a balanced extramural programme which creates opportunities for all.

“Our bi-annual revue is very popular and our girls’ hockey and boys’ soccer teams have both achieved good results in national tournaments over the past few months.

The emphasis, however, will remain on academic progress and social development.”

The principal believes that the setting of targets is an ongoing process. Once you achieve objectives, one must immediately set new goal. He has achieved certain targets and is continuously in the process of setting new ones.

The Brebner Primary School’s mission is to appoint qualified teachers and to set and maintain the highest possible educational standards.

“We strive to develop and empower the individual by creating a well-balanced academic, sporting, cultural and support programme.

“Our vision is to provide society with learners who have received a well-rounded, quality education so that each may realise their God-given talents and contribute to the welfare of others.

“Learners need to make the most of their time at school. Modern society sets high demands and there are so many skills that we have to teach our children.

“Parents need to stay committed and involved. Love our school and remember: Magna est Veritas (Great is the Truth).”
