2020-01-22 06:00

The National Arts Council (NAC) has opened applications for its international bursary for the 2020-’21 academic year.

Funding is for candidates who will pursue postgraduate studies in arts fields supported by the NAC.

Preference will be given to applications for qualifications that address rare skills required in the South African arts sector in support of the following five NAC funding programmes:

  • social cohesion and nation-building;
  • innovation, design and creation;
  • arts platforms;
  • strategic initiatives; and
  • capacity building.

The invitation applies to candidates intending to pursue postgraduate studies in the arts at an international institution during the 2020-’21 academic year. The applicable postgraduate qualifications include honours and master’s degrees, doctorates, master classes and residency programmes.

The student’s average marks should not be less than 65%, and the course applied for should not be offered in South Africa.

The bursary in its entirety will not exceed R250 000 per candidate and is subject to NAC approval.

Applicants can register and complete the online application form at https://nac.praxisgms.co.za/.

The closing date for applications is 31 January at 17:00.
