The Mangaung Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) announced that the high commissioner for Botswana in South Africa, Lameck Nthekela, will be the keynote speaker at its first Business Summit for the year to be held in Bloemfontein on Wednesday, 19 February.

Nancy De Sousa, president of the MCCI, said although Nthekela will be the keynote speaker, the organisation has lined up important role-players in the business sector to initiate economic revival for Bloemfontein.

“This is the MCCI stepping up to the challenge of reinventing the chamber to create a conducive environment for businesses not just to survive, but also prosper in this year and beyond,” De Sousa said.

“The current economic conditions are scary, and businesses in Bloemfontein are barely surviving. We definitely need some new markets, and Botswana could be an option.”
