Various small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs) in the Free State are encouraged to submit applications for the Tabalaza Pitching Programme. Applications close tomorrow (15/08).

This is one of the empowering initiatives for emerging businesses driven by the provincial Department of Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs.

Through this programme the department creates opportunities for entrepreneurs to link up with innovative business and potential investors. In addition, the department provides technical advice to SMMEs with the assistance of experienced investors.

Emerging entrepreneurs are challenged to generate feasible ideas to attract financial investors and venture into partnerships.

To participate in this programme, interested businesses must present the following: Updated compliance document i.e. certified ID copy, CIPC registration document and valid tax clearance, bankable business plan/business profile with pictures; projected/actual financial statement; detailed business needs; job creation opportunities.

The ten best entries at district level will pitch to a panel of judges, with the top three enterprises receiving prize money to purchase equipment to sustain their businesses.

Prizes offered this year are: R300 000 first prize, R250 000 second prize, and R200 000 third prize in equipment.

The finalist of the grand provincial finale will walk away with equipment worth R800 000.

Application forms are available at offices of the Department of Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs.

Entries can also be submitted via email at tabalaza@destea.gov.za.
