Call centre tackles services

VANDALISM, theft of infrastructure and illegal water connections in the community of Kimberley and the Northern Cape is expected to soon be a thing of the past.

These incidents are set to be resolved through the services of the re-established Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) call centre.

According to the regional head of the Department of Water and Sanitation in the Northern Cape, Abe Abrahams, the call centre will be a point of access to all information about the programmes and services of the department.

The hotline will furthermore enable the DWS to receive and resolve issues related to water-use registration and licensing.

Services that will be enabled include, amongst others, treatment plants and its problems, revenue, billing, debt management, water supply interruptions and its issues, basic sanitation supply, community sanitation problems and buckets which are not collected.

To further accommodate diversity, the hotline will operate in all 11 languages.

The hotline number is 080-020-0200 and one of the biggest advantages is that the hotline is free of charge, easy to use and convenient for communities.

Amogelang Moholoeng of DWS said the hotline operating hours during weekdays will be from 06:00 to 22:00 and weekends from 08:00 to 16:00.
