Campaign aims to restore image of Bloem

2018-06-06 06:00

The community of Bloemfontein is urged to support the ongoing Shoprite campaign to clean the city.

This campaign aims to restore the image of the Bloemfontein Central Business District (CBD) and cultivate a culture of keeping the city neat.

The forthcoming cleaning campaign will take place on 16 June.

This will be the group’s fourth consecutive monthly clean-up project with the help of volunteers.

It strives to keep the city neat and aims to address environment challenges.

Stefan Gouws, divisional manager, has called on the community of Bloemfontein to participate actively in the campaign.

“Cleaning our city is not just the municipality’s responsibility, but the duty of everyone,” he said.

“We want to set an example and we hope that our actions will motivate others to join us.”

Anyone wishing to join the clean-up drive can dial 051-410-7700 during business hours.

The necessary cleaning items such as gloves, refuse bags and a mask will be provided.

Future cleaning campaigns are planned for 18 July and 11 August.
