A total of 160 candidates from five districts in the Northern Cape were awarded certificates as participants of the National Rural Youth Service Corps (NARYSEC) through vocational training and higher learning in­stitutions.

The graduation ceremony, held at the Mittah Seperepere Convention Centre in Kimberley on 4 May, was presided over by Candith Mashego-Dlamini, deputy minister of Rural Development and Land Reform.

Among the programmes completed are: building and civil construction, plumbing (solar geyser installation), early childhood development, plant production, disaster management, as well as occupationally directed education, training and development practitioner learnerships.

A further 18 graduates received certificates of competency for entrep­reneurship in arts, cultural and creative industries, which was facilitated by the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT).
