The case against an alleged would-be rapist of an intern doctor at the Pelonomi Hospital in Bloemfontein has been postponed to 24 June.

The suspect, Vice Olivier (32) from Bronville in Welkom, reappeared in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Friday (14/06). He remains in custody while the police and the Department of Health in the Free State continue with investigations into the saga.

Olivier is facing an attempted rape charge following the alleged assault with the intention to rape a 24-year-old intern doctor at about 23:50 early on 3 June.

He was not asked to plead.

The victim was on night-duty at the hospital at the time she was reportedly being attacked by the suspect with an intend to sexually assault her. Olivier reportedly attempted to rape the victim in the doctors’ rest rooms section. However, the female doctor fought him off and bit off a part of his tongue.

Olivier was arrested at the hospital.
