Celtic embarks on tour

2019-03-13 06:01

The newly crowned MultiChoice Diski Challenge champions, Bloemfontein Celtic, are gearing up for their first-ever European tour to the United Kingdom (UK).

The international tour is part of the team’s prize for winning the Diski Challenge.

The championship title has been a long time coming for the Phunya Sele Sele juniors after they had finished as Diski Challenge runners-up twice in the last two seasons.

One of these times refers to the infamous 3 – 6 capitulation to bottom of the table Baroka on the final day of the 2016-’17 season in a match which they needed a win to secure the title.

They have since made up for the disappointment and Celtic have bagged themselves a ten-day tour to England, which will see them play and train against West Ham United, also called The Academy of Football, in Chadwell Heath.

The Academy has over the years produced players like Frank Lampard, Rio Ferdinand and John Terry.

Departing from OR Tambo International today, the champions are expected to arrive in England on Thursday (14/03).

They will get down to work immediately with a two-hour training session under the watchful eye of academy coaches in preparation for their first match against a team from the Premier League’s reserve league.

Siwelele will also get to experience two Premier League matches live. The first match is West Ham United at home against Huddersfield Town and the other will be the title-chasing Liverpool’s visit to Fulham.

Topping off what surely will be a memorable trip, is a team motivational talk from Arsenal legend Ian Wright at the Arsenal Football Club Academy.
