Bloemfontein Celtic will be seeking some redemption by recording a win over SuperSport United in their Absa Premiership League fixture on Saturday (03/02).

The two sides fighting for a top-eight spot will face off in the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria. Kick-off is at 15:30.

Both sides have had a bad run lately, losing to the lower-placed clubs and also drawing some games.

Celtic’s poor form saw them share the spoils with in-form Cape Town City when playing to a 1 – 1 draw in their Absa Premiership match at the Dr R.P. Molemela Stadium on Sunday (28/01).

Phunya Sele Sele have managed to collect just four points since the start of the league in 2018.

The points followed a 2 – 1 win over Lamontville Golden Arrows at home in Bloemfontein and another draw against AmaZulu (0 – 0).

The home lads survived a scare on Sunday when they drew 1 – 1 with City, courtesy of Ndumiso Mabena’s brilliant free kick. In this match, only Celtic players scored, with an own-goal by Mbhazima Rikhotso in the first stand of the game. The Celtic defender netted in a desperate situation to clear the danger.

Celtic’s last win, 2 – 1 against Arrows, was on 7 January at their home turf of the Dr R.P. Molemela Stadium. Phunya Sele Sele have had a winless streak notable with heavy defeats to Maritzburg United (4 – 0) and Bidvest Wits (1 – 0).

While Celtic lack some fire-power, they will rely on their in-form winger Deon Hotto and midfielder Mabena to thwart SuperSport.

On the other hand, SuperSport will be gunning to break their losing streak of four games. The Pretoria team’s last victory was against Maritzburg (1 – 0). They too have suffered devastating defeats, 4 – 1 to Wits and 2 – 0 to AmaZulu.
