Celtic ready to defend their title

2017-11-01 06:00

The contest in the Free State stream of the Sasol Women’s League has intensified with teams pulling out all the stops.

While defending champions Bloemfontein Celtic are home and dry, the focus is on the runner-up positions.

Last year’s second-place achievers, Ace Milan from Villiers, will finish in third place, irrespective of the outcome of matches played this weekend and the week that follows, swopping positions with Tsunami Queens, who are destined to receive R30 000 and a silver medal.

Last year, Queens (from Qwaqwa) finished in third position.

The team finishing third this year will receive R25 000, while Celtic will be awarded R50 000 as the champions again.

Celtic, as the provincial champions, will represent the Free State at this year’s national final of the Sasol Women’s Championship in December.

They will defend the national title they won last year.
