The Lebone Village Day-care Centre, one of the established community-based non-governmental organisations in Bloemfontein, has received a financial boost to continue to better the lives of the vulnerable.

The centre has received R100 000 as one of the lucky winners in the MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet 21 years of Giving Back campaign.

This followed its nomination to participate in the campaign by a MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet cardholder to receive a worthy amount from a Woolworths Giftcard.

The Lebone Village Day-care Centre was nominated by supporters as one of the 21 charities in South Africa that stand out in helping to change lives positively.

The donor, celebrating its 21st anniversary last year, launched the 21 years of Giving Back campaign with R2,1 million to give away to 21 worthy causes.

The prize money is a major boost to enable this Bloemfontein-based centre to continue rendering valuable work in the community.

It renders essential services in the community, providing multi-faceted care to orphans and vulnerable children, as well as families impacted by HIV/AIDS.

Located in Bloemspruit, the centre currently has six sections through which it renders essential services.

Presently it reaches approximately 1 496 children and 362 families through its orphanage, Edu-Centre, Ambulatory Therapeutic Feeding Clinic, school feeding and community feeding parcel programmes.
