Citizens urged to pray for rain

2018-02-14 06:01

The Department of Water and Sanitation encourages everyone from all walks of life, wherever they will be,to pray for rain in February.

Most parts of the country continue to face serious water shortages.

Climate change is believed to be causing the unrelenting drought, particularly in the Western Cape, Eastern Cape and Northern Cape. A lack of rain has reportedly caused the average dam levels nationally to drop to as low as 59,6%.

This has been further exacerbated by excessive water use and leakages.

People are encouraged to make behavioural changes and to use less water.
