Margo Fargo’s adrenaline is pumping in anticipation of the crowning of Miss South Africa 2018 on Sunday (27/05).

She is a finalist in this beauty pageant, the most prestigious one in the country.

Given that she originates from the City of Roses, Margo is nicknamed the special rose of Bloemfontein, given she originates from the City of Rose,.

She is one of the 12 finalists eyeing the coveted title of Miss South Africa. The fever is overwhelming being a finalist.

“I feel very excited to represent so many people on Sunday, but of course the nerves are building up,” Margo (25) admits.

“This is an amazing journey to be a part of.”

The crowning ceremony will take place at Sun International’s new flagship venue, the Sun Arena at Time Square, Pretoria.

Born and bred in Heidedal, Margo is a former learner of the Eunice High School.

She holds an honours degree in Consumer Science and is also the founder of A&M, a non-profit organisation.

She says she is grateful for the support from all around and for the Miss South Africa brand that has given young woman a tool to exercise empowerment.

and gives young women room to empower others irrespective of the outcome. “No matter the outcome, this has been an incredible journey so far,” she says.

According to Margo, she Despite her ideal personality for a beauty pageant, Margo says she is not really the stereotypical beauty pageant type, but rather an awkward academic who plays chess, netball and who loves to climb trees.

Margo says she is just an ordinary girl who loves cheese curls and ice lollies and always aims to make a difference in the lives of others.

To this day she still enjoys the odd ice lolly and cheese curls now and then.

She started participating in beauty pageants as a dare, but soon realised that it can be a way in which to mature, build and bring about change.

“The Miss South Africa pageant captivated me from a young age,” Margo confesses.

However, the thought never crossed her mind that she will eventually become a finalist in this competition.

“Being Miss South Africa is one of the biggest responsibilities and offices a woman can stand in. She is a voice, beacon of hope and a leader. I know I possess these qualities. This is a pageant with a purpose,” says Margo.

She believes growing up in Heidedal has shaped and prepared her to fulfil the important role of being Miss South Africa.

It made me the woman that I am today. Playing in the sun and baking mud cakes for mother are some of my dearest memories.

“These memories, along with the way in which my parents raised me, makes me the woman that I am today.”nd that and how my parents and family raised me, form all part of who am I today,” says Fargo.

Pumeza Fargo (57), Margo’s mother, says she is confident that her daughter will not only go far in the competition, but also in life, as she does not take on anything without God.

She says Margo, a baby who was born prematurely and only weighed 1,7 kg, is an exceptional person and a God-fearing child.

“She puts God in everything. She was created for a specific purpose and enjoys God’s favour.”
