People in the Northern Cape, especially around Kimberley, are urged to make use of the subsidised veterinary services offered by the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development.

The purpose of the clinic providing these services is to make veterinary care for domestic animals and livestock accessible to people of lower-income households.

It also seeks to fill a void in disadvantaged communities where people did not have access to veterinary services before due to financial constraints.

Communities around Kimberley can make use of the veterinary clinic for a variety of services, which include: vaccination, sterilisation, the basic treatment of primary diseases and farm visits, as well as assistance with herd health advice, farmer education and demonstrations.

Phemelo Manankong of the department said the clinic was run by veterinarians completing their compulsory service, with the aim of providing veterinary services to communities.

“The department is appealing to the community to call the clinic on 087-630-0274,” said Manankong.

“The telephone number to request farm visits or help in the case of emergency is 083-302-3716.”

The clinic is situated at 1A Old Boshoff Road, Kimberley.
