The Barcelona Masters Club was crowned the 2018 champions of the annaul Rihanna Moshoeshoe Soccer Tournament at the De Beers Stadium over the weekend.

They beat opponents Juventus Masters Club by 4 – 2 in penalties.

The proud winners had it tough after Juventus equalised in the last 15 minutes, making it 1 – 1 to lead to the penalties.

Juventus qualified for the finals after beating Zulu Sweepers by 7 – 1 earlier in the day.

According to proud Barcelona coach Madena Segrys, this is a second run in their existence in the tournament finals as they lifted the same trophy in 2015-’16.

Segrys admitted to this not being the easiest competition as all teams were tough.

“This was not an easy road from the start off the group stages, until the finals.

“The crowning is more of a motivation to do better next season as this is my first major cup as a coach since I took over two years ago,” Segrys said.

He thanked his technical team that put in good strategy measures in an effort to remain the winning team, who has not been out of the top six ever since they joined.

The tournament was wrapped up on a high note of excitement with a motorcade, carrying messages of support in the campaign against human trafficking, through the streets of Galeshewe.
