Comfort in police’s assistance

2018-05-16 06:02

Hein Lingenfelder, Johannesburg:

I would like to take this opportunity to thank two officers, Van der Walt and Maloney, of the South African Police Service (SAPS).

They went out of their way to help us, me and my wife, on Wednesday, 21 March, on Human Rights Day when the country celebrated this day.

My wife and I were travelling from Cape Town to Johannesburg when our car broke down on the N1 near the Engen garage outside Bloemfontein.

As we are pensioners, we were feeling very vulnerable when the two officers came to our assistance.

They helped us to obtain spare parts for our car and did not leave until we were mobile.

It was wonderful to feel safe and I would like to thank the SAPS and especially the two officers who went the extra mile to assist us.

It is a great comfort to know that police still care for their citizens, especially the elderly.
