It is back to basics for the Phokwane Local Municipality as it prepares for improved service delivery early in the year.

The municipality prides itself on the appointment of its new municipal manager, adv. Matshidiso Mogale, done on Tuesday, 31 January.

The resolution about service delivery was made during a special council meeting. The appointment was among the decisions made at the meeting.

Kgalalelo Letshabo, communications officer of Phokwane, confirmed the appointment and said that Mogale would serve a five-year term.

The municipality has been without a municipal manager for the last two years.

On behalf of the council, the mayor of Phokwane, Sentse Kalman, thanked the acting municipal manager, Zithulele Nikani, for a sterling job done in holding the fort in a time when the municipality needed guidance and leadership.

Among the council’s expectations are a good working relationship with the new municipal manager, taking the Phokwane Municipality to greater heights and delivering good quality services to the community.

Letshabo promised that other Section 56 posts, including that of the director of corporate services and chief financial officer, would be filled in due course once the recruitment and selection processes had been concluded.
