Hairstylist Treavor Mokoaleli from Bethlehem is in line for big prizes in this year’s Sofn’Free HairXperts Masters Challenge, which the ultimate stylist will be awarded R250 000.

The contestants include both women and men.

Representing the Free State, Mokoaleli won the second challenge of the competition in which he had to showcase his curling and blowout skills on mostly male models.

His ability to create the most impressive overall look saw him standing head and shoulders above the rest in the challenge.

Mokoaleli aims to make it into the top eight to compete in the final in July.

Other prizes in this year’s competition include the Technical Excellence award, which will be awarded to the stylist who masters the knowledge and functionality of the Sofn’Free product range, as well as a new award, the Young Xperts award, which will be given to the best student hairstylist.

The eliminated contestants will still be in the running to claim the viewers’ choice award, a cash prize of R30 000.

The competition is broadcast on eTV from 18:30 to 20:00 every Tuesday.

The public can participate by voting for their favourite contestant.
