Cyclists help through donations

2017-07-05 06:01

The first Cyclists Care mass ride in aid of the Towers of Hope organisation will take place on Sunday (09/07) at the Monte Bello Estate in Bloemfontein.

This charity initiative is organised by a local group of cyclists consisting of corporate businessmen and women.

They have teamed up to support poverty-stricken communities.

The day will be presented as a family day and everyone is welcome to participate.

The event makes provision for 5 km and 20 km routes for participants.

The 5 km route is designed to accommodate children, runners and walkers. The 20 km route is a tarred road route and will be accessible for all cyclists for a mass ride.

The entry fee for any of the two routes is a donation of non-perishable or canned foods or any warm clothing, blankets or toiletries, which can be dropped off at the demarcated area.

Registration starts at 09:00. The first 300 entrants will each receive a cyclist care sticker that can be placed on their bicycle or worn on their shirt.

A church service will form part of the day and will take place from 10:00 to 11:00. The race starts at 11:30.

Afterwards, participants and their families can enjoy a picnic at the venue. The participants are requested to bring their own picnic basket and blankets.
