Derby fever hits Bloemfontein with three local derbies of the ABC Motsepe League.

The first derby between Kovsie and newcomers De General FC takes place today (09/10) at the University of the Free State’s sports complex on the Bloemfontein campus.

Kick-off is at 17:00.

The other two derbies scheduled for Saturday (12/10) will see Bloemfontein Young Tigers and Kovsie square off, while the other will see De General in action against the Central University of Technology. These fixtures will kick off at 15:00. CUT, Tigers and Bloemfontein Celtic are the only unbeaten local teams thus far. CUT and Tigers are tied on nine points.

Tigers will be inspired after narrowly beating Mangaung Unite by 1 – 0 in a derby played at the Botshabelo Stadium on Saturday (05/10).

They would like to upset the improved Kovsie side in the forthcoming outing. A win will see them extend their lead at the helm of the Free State’s ABC Motsepe League administered by the South African Football Association.

CUT convincingly beat Harmony by 2 – 0 in a match played in Bloemfontein on Saturday (05/10), thereby retaining its current position.

Tigers are seeking revenge for their elimination by Kovsie in the Nedbank Cup preliminary match three weeks ago. Tigers boast a 1 – 0 win over both Questus and Mangaung.

CUT, Tigers and Bloemfontein Celtic are the only unbeaten local teams thus far. CUT and Tigers are tied on nine points.
