IF one passes through Adam Nomakola Street in No. 5, Galeshewe, and see her chatting to her friends, one will never imagine that this girl has some swag when called to show her beauty on the ramp.

This rough diamond from the Diamond City, prophetically called Nthabeleng Diamond, has already amassed a number of titles since the day she had entered her maiden beauty contest as a 12-year-old at the Letshego Primary School in Galeshewe five years ago.

The beautiful girl had another chance to show her petite moves when a certain Fundi Louw went to their school to request models to participate in a beauty contest as part of the 16 Days of Activism of No Violence against Women and Children

“Miss Louw had started an organisation called the Women and Girls’ Foundation, and it is under this organisation that we competed, and with my mom, I became the second princess.

“I tasted victory and the joy of being hailed as a princess and I wanted more,” said Nthabeleng. She said that after a year, she had joined the Daz Diam Models Summer Heat Talent Search at the Flamingo Casino in Kimberley. The talent search was attended by amongst others scouts from Just You Artist and Model Management.

“I was one of the finalists and girl, oh girl, I found myself strutting the ramp in Johannesburg at the Silver Star Casino. This was the toughest I had ever attended and the standard was high.

“Part of the winnings was getting a call from Just You Management to send winners to Florida in America. I, unfortunately, did not get that call, but I learned valuable lessons,” she continued.

She further said that on her return from Johannesburg, she had entered Miss Kersmark 2015, which had been held in Hoffe Park in Kimberley.

“I used my experience and the lessons from the Silver Casino. I won and was crowned the queen. I am now the reigning queen for the 14 to 18 years category until October.”

As if that was not enough, Nthabeleng has entered Miss Teen Commonwealth 2016. She further plans to enter Miss Teen South Africa as well.

In response to a question to where she gets all the energy from and what motivates her, she said: “I am motivated by my mother, Daphney Diamond, and she is my inspiration and my role model.

“She is successfully running a very competitive business and I saw her perseverance and she came up tops. She and my grandmother, Rebecca Diamond or Kgatititous, are a good source of energy for me.

“I plan to finish school and move to Johannesburg where dreams come true. But while there, I will study Business Management to have something to fall back on.”

Nthabeleng reveals that she is now part of e-Models in Kimberley.

She admires both Rolene Strauss and Elsabe van der Linde for their beauty and achievements.

In Kimberley, she looks up to Thokozile Mbatha who is the present second princess for Mamelodi Sundowns.
