COMPASS MEDICAL WASTE SERVICES has donated R10 000 to the Bloemfontein SPCA to assist them with the incredible work they do for vulnerable animals in Mangaung and surrounding areas.

Reinet Meyer, senior inspector for the Bloemfontein SPCA, along with her dedicated and proactive team, are doing a phenomenal job and are available around the clock to support homeless and injured animals, both domestic and wild.

According to Amanda van der Berg, acting regional manager for Compass, the task at hand is huge and their commitment to our furry friends is immeasurable.

“We commend them for their drive to make a difference in the lives of so many helpless animals,” said Amanda.

She added that Compass was delighted to, once again, have the Bloemfontein SPCA on board with their Under an African Sky (UAAS) Calendar Campaign, which has been running for the past seven years and has raised over R750 000 for Crow (the Centre for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife) to date.

“For four years the Bloemfontein SPCA has been selling the beautiful UAAS, A2 wall calendars which showcase South Africa’s stunning wildlife, with R130 going to Crow and the remaining R40 of each calendar sale going to them,” explained Amanda.

On accepting the cheque, Meyer said: “The generous donation, along with the income that we generate from the sale of the wildlife calendars, will enable us to help so many animals in need. With the continuous drought, there are countless animals that are in desperate need of assistance.” She said the funds would be used to help animals where there were no SPCAs or veterinarians.

“So many animals cry out for help and when we arrive it is just amazing to look into those animals’ eyes and see the relief. It is as if they know we are there to save them from suffering and pain. With Compass’s help and support, we are able to help the abused, hungry and injured animals in the Free State,” concluded Meyer.
