Don’t let the giant in you wither away

In one way or another, all of us are faced with challenges.

These challenges frustrate us to such an extent that we think there is no solution to them.

We therefore adopt the attitude of a house-fly which, having entered the house, accidentally falls into the milk jar, struggling to fight its way out; and which, when it finally succeeds, cannot remember that the same door it came in through can be used on its way out.

Is it not true of some of us that we usually give up while we are a few minutes from our destination, or success?

How many of us fall on our backside, looking up like a beetle with no hope to rise again?

One saying goes: If you cannot rise from where you fell, just crawl your way forward. Thomas Edison said that the greatest mistake we can make, is not carrying on.

We may have started well in our pursuit of success, our goals and visions, but we became tired, perspired and never got inspired to reach the top; instead, we stopped along the way.

Sometimes we may have committed serious mistakes which stole our worth away, leaving us with the mentality of a loser instead of a winner.

Until we realise that we are not our failures, but that these are learning opportunities, we will never see our way to the top.

It must be noted that each one of us was born with a giant in him, which, when realised and released, propels us towards achieving our purpose without losing hope along the way.

This is the giant that indwells the mind of the winner – an optimist, not a loser (a pessimist).

The bad thing about pessimists is that after failing, they do not see the opportunity of getting up. They are unable to look up and get up; and finally gives up.

The characteristic of optimistic individuals lead them to behave in an opposite way.

Visionaries, according to Eileen Caddy, are those who set their sights to do more, and they will expect most wonderful things to happen, not in the future, but right now.

Being pursuers, they are ambitiously driven to the achievement of their dreams and goals.

They refuse to have their dreams doomed, and when struck down they refuse to stay down.

Kevin Costner says real heroes are those who fall and fail, and are flawed, but win in the end because they stayed true to their ideas, beliefs and commitments.

Possibilitarians turn the impossible into possibilities, negatives into positives, a mess into messages, a grass hopping attitude into grace hoping attitude, chameleon-disabilities into champion abilities, painful experience into gainful experience.

The painstakers have strong characters, even when they find themselves subjected to long-standing abusive relationships involving friends and colleagues and schoolmates.

Tougher and riskier and even more committed, they remain on their course.

They never worry, even when they are suppressed – for they believe that suppression in the negative sense is compression towards greater opportunities.
