Life is about seasons.

There is a time for every season.

There is a season to be merry and joyful – when everything seems to be in place.

Then there is the windy and stormy season which one needs to go through – the lonely and sad times.

However, when this stormy season happens, it is to strengthen, awaken and push us a step closer to our destiny.

When a certain season hits, it may draw certain people into your life.

On the other hand, when another season arrives, it can only mean that for some people, their time in your life is over and they must leave.

When people decide for whatever reason to pack up and leave – even if it is a painful position to be in – try not to beat yourself up as to why they are leaving.

Rather just acknowledge that their season in your life is over.

Manoeuvre through the confession, try not to sob for too long.

Misery really does love company and you do not want to find yourself with wounds of yesterday bleeding into today.

It is okay not be okay, but it is wrong to stay “not okay”.

Remember that your healing will not come from what and who have hurt you.

Your healing is your own responsibility.

Stop taking opportunities which have passed in your head.

Stop holding onto moments which “you could have had but did not” because truly, no good will come from that.

Rather learn how to adapt to change.

Stop staying in places where you are not appreciated as these will only dim your light.

Rather channel your energy to yourself and use your “rejection” period wisely.

Keep in mind that solitude is needed to survive.

Learn to adjust your sail according to the wind and change what is not working to your favour.

I do not believe that there are bad people in this world, but I do however believe that they are just bad for each other.

So if you think that your friends are not part of your destiny, trust your gut and change your company.

Note, the pain of change will sometimes feel more real than the victory you hoped for.

However, do not compromise the person you are meant to be by choosing comfort over fear – fear of starting over or fear of the unknown.

Rather venture into new things boldly.

  • Yes, you might feel weak, but be resilient, persevere and use the strength God gave you to survive. Express welcomes anyone to contribute to the weekly column.
