A business plan competition for young aspiring entrepreneurs proved heaven-sent for Lefu Ngake.

Ngake (29) has been chosen as the regional winner of the 2017 SME Toolkit Business Partners Business Plan Competition in Bloemfontein recently.

He is one of the eight finalists to compete for the national title.

The winner will be announced at an awards ceremony in Johannesburg during Global Entrepreneurship Week later this month.

Regional winners were awarded mentorship prizes and business networks.

Ngake, from Ladybrand, submitted a business plan for his start-up company, Williamson Home.

The one-stop company for elegant yet modern home decor seeks to provide modern and urban home decor, homeware, bedding and eclectic accessories to a range of customers seeking to create a personalised but elegant ambiance, while still conserving a “home-sweet-home” feeling.

He entered the business plan competition which was launched in June for young entrepreneurs from across the country. Entrants took part in one of the 18 regional business workshops on the intricacies of compiling a business plan and managing the many functions of running a business.

Following the workshop, each entrant was invited to submit a complete business plan to the competition judging panel.

Ngake’s business plan for his start-up home decor company was chosen as one of the winning submissions due to focus on impeccable personal customer service.

The competition targets youths from 18 to 35. It aims to have a positive impact on promoting South African entrepreneurship by bridging the gap between simply having an idea to actually launching a start-up business.
