Entries for the 2018 Mrs South Africa Plus pageant are open.

Prospective contestants have until 11 July to enter this unique beauty pageant, in which big is equally beautiful.

The contest is open to all married women and divorcées between the age of 20 and 40 who reside in South Africa.

The pageant will be presented a third time this year. It gives curvy contestants the platform to showcase their plus-sized figures and natural beauty.

The contest is organised by the Chief Leeuw Foundation. Express is the print media sponsor.

Only ten spots are available to have the required number of contestants for this year’s pageant. Thus far entries have been received from the Northern Cape and the Free State.

“The pageant now offers an exciting opportunity to the overall winner: to compete at the Mrs Plus World pageant,” said Samuel Leeuw, chief director of Mrs South Africa Plus.

“This is a once in a lifetime chance to compete internationally and for plus contestants to show the world they are equally beautiful.”

The 2017 title holder, Dipolelo Hou, will represent South Africa at the Mrs Plus World final to be held in Atlanta, America, on 25 July.

She will be the first South African (Hou is from the Free State) to compete for the international crown of the pageant.

Hou is the second contestant to win the pageant, after Puleng Direko, the title holder for 2016.

Hou is an employee of the Free State Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, and works as a personal assistant to the MEC for Sports‚ Arts, Culture and Recration, Mathabo Leeto.
