Athletes from the Eunice High School in Bloemfontein continue to raise the bar.

The team excelled at the Motheo/Xhariep Athletics meeting held on Saturday, 22 February, in the Mangaung Athletics Stadium in Bloemfontein.

Eunice athletes achieved 18 top 3 finishes in the action-packed meeting. These finishes included eight first-place finishes, seven second-place finishes and three third-place finishes.

  • The outstanding performances include:

Kayla Swarts (girls u.17) won both the 200 m and the 100 m sprinting events. She came second in the long jump.

Anke van der Poel (girls u.14) achieved first and second place respectively in the 1 500 m and the 800 m.

Tasha Cronje (girls u.19) finished first in the 100 m, but had to settle for second place in the 200 m.

Sinovuyo Busakwe (girls u.19) came first in the 400 m and second in the 100 m hurdles.

In other star performances Lizri Weyers (girls u.17) was first in the 200 m steeplechase, Samantha Swanepoel (girls u.17) first in the shot put and Jody MacLaclan (girls u.19) first in the 300 m steeplechase.

Those who attained second places were Nielsje Erasmus (girls u.16) in the high jump, Juanita Kruger (girls u.16) in the shot put and Andri van Jaarsveld (girls u.17) in the 800 m.

The third place achievers were Valeska van Zyl (girls u.16) in the 800 m, Sune Wiid (girls u.17) in the 200 m and Jay-Dene Duimpies (girls u.17) in the long jump.
