The National Blackball Pool Federation (NBF) championships for both men and women will end on Friday (14/02) with the Masters final at the Tempe Military base in Bloemfontein. The event started with the senior men and women’s championships as well as that of the juniors, held from 3 to 7 February. Staged annually, the championship is hosted by the South African National Defence Force Cue Sport Association (SANDF CSA). The NBF South African Championships have been presented by the NBF since its inception in 2006. Patrick Jones, NBF coordinator, said the importance of the competition was the opportunity it creates for the NBF to select the top candidates to feature in the South African team. He said NBF partners, the South African Pool Union (SAPU), the All African Pool Association (AAPA), Blackball International (BI) as well as the World Confederation of Billiards Sports (WCBS), were working together to grow and sustain the game despite financial challenges the organisation are facing.
