Long-awaited soccer equipment was finally handed over to the excited Bush Bucks development team in Bloemanda, popularly known as “Team Thatha Zonke”, after winning the Kenridge u.17 tournament in October 2017.

The delay in receiving the kit was reportedly due to the printing of the team logo.

Molema Tokelo, the team’s coach, is now looking for challenges that will give exposure to his players at the highest level.

He has big plans for the 2018 season and regards playing for trophies and medals year in and year out as a waste of talent and energy.

“It is pointless, because even if you win the league, you don’t even get an opportunity to play against the other LFA (Local Football Association) structures, like Magareng, Phokwane and Dikgatlhong,” said Tokelo.

“In my childhood football-playing days, while in the Galeshewe and Mankurwane Development Structure League, each division used to have its own sponsor.

“If you won the league, you used to play against LFAs and if you won the LFA play-offs, you represented Frances Baard against the other regions: Pixley ka Seme, Namaqua and John Taolo Gaetsewe.

“But nowadays it seems like the children are only kept in one place, where they do not get to take on challenges. That is why they end up failing whenever they leave the province at a young age.

“Modern football is more tactical and our standards have fallen behind.

“Our leadership needs to take initiatives like in other provinces.”
