Farmer (22) shot, killed

2017-10-25 06:02

The DA in the Free State has expressed shock after the gruesome murder of the young farmer Kyle Stols (22) outside Jagersfontein who was shot and killed on his farm, Hantari Game Breeders, on Sunday (22/10).

“It is a real tragedy that a young man, aged only 22, in the prime of his life, with his future still before him, was taken away from his family and friends in such a violent manner,” said Leona Kleyhans, DA member of the provincial legislature.

She said more than 50 violent farm attacks across the Free State against farmers and their employees have been reported this year.

The DA has written far too many condolences statements in response to violent farm attacks, and in each one, wWe implore the government to reintroduce specialised rural safety units to combat this scourge of violent crime which continues to torment both farmers and workers in our rural communities.”
